UROS / AMANTANI / TAQUILE ISLAND
ITINERARY
Day 1: Puno / Amantani
Pick up from the hotel to the Port
of Lake Titikaka.
We leave to Island of the Uros by
motorized boat. We could visit the
mains island for approximately 45 to
50 minutes. After that we continue
to Amantani (42 km of Puno). In
Amantani our guide organize the
accommodation in the typical home.
After the lunch we could appreciate
the most important attractive of the
island. Dinner and next we could
participate in the dancing in our
honor prepared by the residents.
Overnight in Amantani
Day2: Taquile / Puno
Breakfast and then boarding the
motorized boat to visit Taquile. In
the island we could appreciate the
beautiful landscape and the
attractions of the island. The
residents offered a variety of
available products which are
possible to be purchased. Lunch
(Optional) to back to Puno in the
boat.

IMPORTANT ATTRACTIONS OF THE TOUR:
Titicaca:
Considered the highest commercially
navigable lake in the world at 3,821
meters. Located between the
territories of Peru and Bolivia. The
climate in the Lake is 25th
centigrade during the day and cold
at night.
Lake Titicaca has an area 8,560 km2
with an average depth of 280 m. Its
waters are blue and suitable for
water sports.
The lake is still the habitat of
many species of flora such as
cattails, duckweed, including purine
and fauna within our fish such as
trout, carachi, suche, ducks lake
and the giant frog of Lake Titicaca
(Telmatobius culeus).
Lake Titicaca in its scale has 40
islands being Uros (indigenous
descendants of the ancient cultures
that inhabit artificial floating
islands made of reeds based),
Taquile and Amantani important
islands.
Lake Titicaca is still one of the
main attractions of Peru.
Uros Island:
One of the main islands located
within the lake Titicaca. Uros
Island is an artificial construction
material consisting of the area as
is the Totora reed which grown in
the lake.
The purpose of the island
settlements was originally
defensive, and if a threat arose
they could be moved. The largest
island retains a watchtower almost
entirely constructed of reeds.
Like their ancestors, the Uros
people continue to uphold their
unique traditions and way of life.
Family units are governed by a
grandfather and marriages are often
prearranged sometimes from birth.
The massive Viking esque tσtora
rafts, adorned with carved
dragonheads, are the same vessels as
used centuries ago. Most inhabitants
subsist by hunting and fishing,
though the advent of tourism has
significantly altered the economic
structure of the island.
Amantani:
The Island in the XX century was
owned by landowner who sold all
their properties to the native
resident.
Amantani contains into the territory
a variety of Sacred sites of Pukara,
Lupaca and Inca culture that in the
actuality are being using in
ceremonies that survivors 500 years
since colony epoch.
Taquile Island:
Located at 35 km of bay of Puno. The
Archaeological complex, the
landscapes with the platforms where
potatoes, corn and cereals how
quinoa and broad beans are
cultivated and the customs are the
most important attractive of the
Island.
The traditional wear with the
brightly colored polleras (skirt) of
the woman and the married men wear
solid red caps with folded to the
back and hat call attention to the
visitor. This, the Textile industry
together fisheries are the mains
activities of the island.
